We need more mental health resources

Elate Fitness - Lets Talk and end the stigma FB.png

My sister died by suicide almost 3 years ago.

3 years of truly seeing how broken the view and action around Mental Health is.

3 years of seeing a huge stigma surrounding Mental Health still, yet every single person is affected in some capacity.

How can we be more open about conversations? How can we ask for help without the fear of being judged? And how can we embrace talking to those we feel may need it?

How do we get people to stop thinking they have to face it alone?

Talking is the first step.

We need to realize we cannot be afraid to talk, we cannot be afraid to ask for help, and we cannot be afraid to begin the process of change for ourselves.

It is ok to ask for help to get started and it is ok to ask just to talk.

Sometimes it is a matter of reaching out to an acquaintance who understands and can show you what resources are available and where to start.

𝗜’𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽.

And for everyone, I encourage you to offer your availability to talk for someone you feel may need it. Even if they don’t at first, you’ve built trust so when ready they can come back to you.

Having resources available is just as important and many are.

We must continue creating resources so everyone who’s ready to #TakeAction can do so immediately and we must have those resources readily available.

When it comes to improving #PhysicalHealth, which in turn greatly improves #MentalHealth, I’m creating Elate Fitness to provide that access and get you moving. To educate you on how your physical health changes your body, to offer online programs you can start immediately in your own home, and to provide accountability so you stay motivated and empowered to keep going.
